Have Fabulous Skin this Winter

It happens every year… you’re going about your business and bam! Your skin decides to freak out, get red, peel and dry. Winters freezing temperatures, blistering winds and dry conditions are to blame! We’ve got tips to keep your skin flawless this winter.

Switch up your products.

When the weather changes, so should your products. The biggest issue with winter weather is dry skin! It may seem contradictory, but dry skin can lead to clogged pores, uneven skin tone, flakey skin, wrinkles and more. So moisturization is key! Using oil based moisturizers are ideal for winter. The thicker consistency protects delicate skin from the cold wind and boost hydration.

Humidifier

Get a humidifier and use it, often. Dry, itchy skin is a signal to run a cool mist humidifier in your bedroom all night, every night. This is an easy, inexpensive way to add moisture to your daily routine.

Slather on Coconut Oil

When your normal isn’t making a dent in your dry skin. Bust out the coconut oil. It works best on wet skin, so try it right after you get out of the shower, and a little goes a long way. Note—it’s very greasy, so wait 15 minutes or so before getting dressed.

Dewy Makeup

Everyone loves the look of perfect dewy makeup. Winter is the best time to give it a try. Add a drop of skin oil into your favorite foundation. Worried it won’t stay on as long? Pair it with a good quality primer and you are good to go.

Water is your friend

Eight glasses of water is the goal year round, but in the winter months, its time to kick it up a notch. Try to drink a half a gallon of plain water every day.

Stop the itch, grab the ice

If that itchy spot on your hand is really driving you crazy… stop the itch with ice. Hold an ice cube directly on the skin for about 10 seconds. It reduces swelling and calms the area making it less itchy. Then follow up with some coconut oil.

What if you’ve tried everything and still no relief? It may be time to visit your doctor. They may be able to prescribe medication, often an extra strength cream.
