What Freddy carried

Freddy was called up to pray on the first afternoon and gave thanks for "the unity of community", bringing each person's power "as a love offering to this land." From that day he tended the summit's sacred fire. On Sunday he opened with Ancestros, aire, tierra, agua y fuego, and shared the lore of the circle: we come "to cut our heads off" and "drop into our hearts and live from that love dimension that we're co-creating here." Then he gave the stage away, to the brothers on percussion, to Sierra Marin and Trev, to a room singing It Takes a Village back to him. No one rises alone. His children taught him the rest: little flowers "don't ask permission to shine." He closed with an open heart: "My heart is so wide open and I hope yours is too, familia."

In their own words

“Just giving thanks for the unity of community, of coming together, of bringing together each individual's power and bringing that as a love offering to this land to bring about this new earth that we're all envisioning together.”

“So with every breath that we take, may we continue to anchor in all that love that this earth needs to continue to regenerate so that it continues to hold us and our generations to come,”

“My name is Freddy Larrosa. I come from the land of Ecuador, bearing gifts in medicine, music, and my heart's expression.”

“It takes a village / Oh, it takes a village / It takes some coming together in our hearts and in our minds / It takes a village to shine”

“Welcome to paradise / The paradise of flowers / You don't need permission to shine a thousand colors”

“These little flowers, they don't ask permission to shine. They just are…”

“And part of the lore of Huachuma is that we come to the circle to cut our heads off, so that we no longer are stuck in our heads and stuck in our minds and the thoughts that create all these stories that bring troubles about in our life, but rather have an opportunity to drop into our hearts and live from that love dimension that we're co-creating here.”

“and just remembering that when we can cut our heads off and drop into the heart, there's so much more coherence in the field.”

“My heart is so wide open and I hope yours is too, familia.”
