What to Watch on Netflix in February 2019

February is the perfect month to grab a blanket, curl up on the couch, and binge on Netflix. It’s the middle of winter, it’s cold, and there’s never much going on in the year’s shortest month. It’s the perfect time to kick back and enjoy Netflix’s new February line up.

 Jeopardy!: Collection 2 (February 28)

It’s that game show you don’t look for, but dammit its hard to turn off once you’ve clicked it. Watch your favorite host Alex Trabek smugly goad contestants into losing it all. Jeopardy is the kind of game show that makes you feel smart when you’re watching it, but in reality, we know we wouldn’t have anything to wager at the end. More proof that nerds really do run the world.

Unsolved: Tupac & Biggie (February 27)

The first season of Unsolved features 10 episodes about the murders of rappers Tupac and Biggie Smalls in the late 1990s. Sure, you could watch a mini-series that makes you smarter like Ken Burns’ The Civil War, or something awe-inspiring like BBC’s Blue Planet 2, but none of that would give you that 90s nostalgia. Wait, is 90s nostalgia a thing?

The 40 Year-Old Virgin (February 16)

Sweet, off-the-wall and hilarious. The 40 Year-Old Virgin will be just the ego-booster you’ll need after spending another Valentine’s Day alone.

The Umbrella Academy (February 15)

The Umbrella Academy is an upcoming Netflix series that has been adapted from comic books. Here’s the pitch, it stars Tom Hooper, Ellen Page, and Mary J. Blige. There’s death, low-key superpowers, and a pending apocalypse—all for your viewing pleasure.

Hostel (February 1)

Planning a trip with your significant other and enjoy not sleeping? If you’ve answered yes, than Hostel is the movie for you. It’s scary, and in that “I’m really into horror movies” way.

American Pie (February 1)

The 90s are back (again) with American Pie. The movie that shot Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy, Sean William Scot, and “Stifler’s Mom” to moderate stardom, only to find themselves back on the C-list of celebrities a few years later. But why live in the now when you can journey back to when American Pie was a big deal. There’s house parties, mom-jokes and penis-in-pie shenanigans. Really, what more could you ask for?

As Good As It Gets (February 1)

Maybe one of the quint-essential rom-coms of the 90s (yes, the 90s again). When a grumpy writer meets his neighbor’s dog, everything changes. Helen Hunt, a dog and Jack Nicholson being eccentric (basically playing himself). This one has all the goods.

Final Destination (February 1)

If you’re afraid of death, avoid Final Destination, but then again… that’s the point of the movie. When some crazy teens come up against fate, fate almost always win. But they spend the whole movie trying to avoid their inevitable deaths.

Jaws (February 1)

Jaws needs no introduction. I’m sure you heard the music in your head when you read the word “Jaws”. But if you’re under the age of 30, you may not have seen the theatrical release before. It’s a classic. It’s Steven Spielberg at his best. Oh yea, and there’s a giant shark.

Russian Doll (February 1)

This comedy series created by Amy Pohler (SNL, Parks & Recreation) is lead by Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black) and follows a woman who can’t stop dying. It’s Happy Death Day 2 U, but even funnier.

Here’s the whole list of new features coming to Netflix in February.
