Technology's true power is bringing people together in the real world, held in love and rest.

What Hakeem carried

Hakeem came to Fire Day from three weeks on an island in Panama, where the dead zones turned out to be alive zones. Without a signal he had to use his device with intention, and being disconnected made him more connected to himself. He brought home a culture where a friend about to open a smoothie shop first checks with his mom, because moms hold it down. For him the true power of technology is to bring people together in the real world and build communities, with a mindful AI that points you back toward humanity. He backed this summit because he looked Angel in the eyes and saw love, and nurturing the person who nurtures people is a force multiplier. His counsel to every builder in the room: don't hold back, pace yourself, and learn how to rest.

  • conscious technology (his words: "We're a conscious technology company")
  • story medicine from his time with indigenous communities in Panama
  • a live on-stage device demo
  • coopetition: collaborating with a would-be competitor (the Lab)

In their own words

“This is what it looks like when you tear down the illusion within the illusion. This illusion of scarcity. This illusion of conflict. This illusion of war. And you see what it looks like when we all come together, give our support, give our collaboration, give our creativity and create heaven on earth. This is literally heaven on earth.”

“I realized the true power of technology, which is to bring people together in the real world, to perform action, to make our lives better, to build communities.”

“There's this aspect of what if we were disconnected and that makes us more connected to ourselves, makes us more productive.”

“Moms hold it down. Gosh, that is the most important job in the whole world, is being a mother, because they raise the rest of us. They take care of the rest of us.”

“It's an AI that points you back towards humanity instead of having you outsource your reasoning and creative capacity. We need to learn from other humans.”

“Not competing but collaborating together and competing together, because if we're going head to head, I see the best in you and that brings out the best of me.”

4 more

“I looked her in the eyes and I saw love, and that love shared with me, I know she spreads with every person she meets.”

“If I could nurture the person who nurtures people here in Austin, that's a force multiplier. That's like infinite generation of abundance.”

“Don't hold back. Don't hold back. Be planning. Be smart with it because this is a bridge. This is a bridge time period.”

“Probably the most important thing you can do that's going to pay back everyone is to take care of your health. To take care of your energy. And learn how to rest.”
