Tyzen's word on Hakeem
Hakeem came to Fire Day straight from three weeks on an island in Panama, where the dead zones turned out to be alive zones. Without a signal, he told us, he had to use his device with intention, and being disconnected made him more connected to himself.
That is the heart of his work. He left big tech to teach people how to use technology that serves their lives, and Take Back Our Tech keeps that teaching free for anyone who wants it. For Hakeem the true power of technology is to bring people together in the real world, to build communities, and he backed SolarPunk Summit because he looked Angel in the eyes and saw love.
What we love in Hakeem is that his counsel to a room full of builders was not to hustle harder. Don’t hold back, he said, plan well, take care of your health and your energy, and learn how to rest.
Start with the free lessons at Take Back Our Tech, tune in to the show, and when you are ready for devices that keep your life your own, Above is his.

“I realized the true power of technology, which is to bring people together in the real world, to perform action, to make our lives better, to build communities.”

“There's this aspect of what if we were disconnected and that makes us more connected to ourselves, makes us more productive.”

“Probably the most important thing you can do that's going to pay back everyone is to take care of your health. To take care of your energy. And learn how to rest.”
