Freddy Larrosa is an Ecuador-born singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Maine, whose original music is rooted in Nueva Trova, folk and world music and played live on a looping rig of guitar, drums, flute and voice. He founded Gardenhouse Records and created GardenFest, and he teaches music in Bath, Maine.

Freddy keeps the fire, and he gives the stage away. Through the whole of SolarPunk Summit he tended the summit’s fire, and on Sunday night he played the main stage with the whole room in his hands.
He reminded us why we come to the circle at all: to get out of our heads and drop into our hearts, where there is so much more coherence in the field. Then he made room. He called the brothers on percussion forward, welcomed Sierra Marin and Trev, and let a whole room sing It Takes a Village back to him. No one rises alone.
His Welcome to Paradise became the summit’s theme song, and it carries the thing his children taught him: little flowers do not ask permission to shine.
What we love in Freddy is the troubadour’s heart: music that is honest, earth-conscious and made to open people. Bring him to your gathering, write a song with him, or simply press play on Children of the Light and let it find you.
