Rio Waken

Rio came up inside someone else’s song and made the room his home for a verse. On Fire Night at SolarPunk Summit, Sierra Marin called him up in the middle of It’s You, and Rio freestyled the long way round: back to the Garden of Eden, back before we split ourselves into angels and demons, and home again to right here.

The line that stayed with us was the simplest one: “just being who I am and loving being a human.” Then he closed the verse and told everyone his name.

What we love in Rio is that the remembering is the whole point of the craft. He calls his writing alchemical lyrics for soul remembrance, and he is putting that out into the world song by song, three singles in six weeks this year, with the humility to post a public note when a line of his own needed rewriting.
